Teaching
Robert E. Lamb is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Eastern Florida State College in Cocoa, FL. He has been at the college since 1998 and has served as department chair and curriculum coordinator during his 21 years at the college. He also serves as Director of Traditional Music at Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne, a position he has held since 2001..
Education
A native of North Carolina, Lamb attended Wake Forest University where, in addition to his music studies, he minored in French and studied at l’Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France. He earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In addition to conducting, Lamb studied musicology in Cincinnati, too. His primary area of interest is the choral music of the French Baroque, especially the grands motets of Michel-Richard de Lalande. Lamb’s doctoral document, Michel-Richard de Lalande’s In convertendo Dominus: A Performance Edition with Performing Commentary, won the 2006 ACDA Julius Herford Prize.
Brevard Community Chorus
As conductor of the Brevard Community Chorus, Lamb has led concert tours to destinations throughout Europe. In June of 2020, the Chorus will travel to Austria to participate in a festival of Beethoven's music which will culminate in a concert at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna.
